For Mac OS X, there are several options; what I believe to be the best options are below. On the server end of things, there's OSXvnc redstonesoftware.com, a nice free VNC server for Mac OS X. (There's even an OS9vnc, on the same page.). JollysFastVNC is a secure ARD and VNC client. Its aim is to be the best and most secure VNC client on the Mac. To access remote computers simply enable ‘ScreenSharing’ on remote Macs, a vnc server like ‘UltraVNC’ on Windows machines or the inbuilt ones in the various Linuxes. Then you can access them with JollysFastVNC. Our software library provides a free download of JollysFastVNC 1.52 for Mac. This Mac application was originally developed by Jinx.de. The bundle id for JollysFastVNC for Mac is de.jinx.JollysFastVNC. The following versions: 1.52, 1.4 and 1.2 are the most frequently downloaded ones by the program users. For remote control, up until very recently I've been using the built-in VNC server (see this hint), and Chicken of the VNC (CotVNC; a previous PotW winner) as the client. But a few weeks back, I stumbled on JollysFastVNC, and ever since (with an exception as noted below), it's become my VNC client of choice. Because it's amazingly fast.

JollysFastVNC is a client for ARD (Apple Remote Desktop) and VNC (Virtual Network Computing) that's known for its security and for having a variety of configuration options.
Add the server or servers you want to connect to. JollysFastVNC can be automatically integrated with those found on Bonjour.
Next, select the parameters related to the connection configuration: type of server and security, keyboard entry, color depth, window size, cursor visibility, disconnect action, etc.
